This phone would be great except it isn’t sturdy enough to do the job it was designed for. We had one for exactly a week and a half before the screen cracked while it was sitting on the counter with no one around. We have no idea how it happened, and the phone definitely was NOT dropped. There’s not a single mark on it. The screen is not fixable, and the phone is useless without it. Verizon refuses to stand behind the phone, saying a broken screen is not a manufacturer’s defect. This phone isn’t sturdy at all and the people at Verizon were extremely rude about the whole thing. Stay away from the phone and the company!!!

Just got the phone today. Charged it, activated it and that is when I notice the ear piece is very low volume and is distorted. Speaker phone mode works fine but when you go back to ear piece, it is very distorted.
Also, Amazon advertises this phone as a new one. Well, my phone had phone number programmed into it and also 17 phone calls that were answered on it. Used is what I call this phone.
I am going to send it back, but we will see if Amazon will send a real NEW phone to me.

The display cracked after owning this phone for less then a day. I had the phone in my pocket and when I pulled it out I found the crack. I had a couple of coins in my pocket for part of the day. The phone company said the coins probably caused the crack…and cracks aren’t covered by the warranty. Anyway be very careful with this phone and/or make sure you have the insurance.

I’m very happy with this phone. The reception is better than my old LG and calls are clear on both ends. I should state that I am not using this phone with a data package and do not intend to use the internet, text or receive e-mails. I just needed an extra phone that worked well as an actual phone and not a mobile computer. In that respect, it is working well and I am very pleased with how it operates.
The phone has a 3.5mm port for a headset. Why? I don’t know. Most earphones and headsets out there are 2.5mm, and personally, I don’t want something hanging off my ear all day (i.e. Bluetooth technology). So, after visiting Radio Shack, Walmart, Best Buy and even my local Verizon store with no luck, I came across a slightly vague recommendation on Amazon that one of the Blackberry adapters, priced at around $10.00, would work. This link will take you to the one that is compatible with the Chocolate Touch and is working for me: Blackberry Stereo Headset Adaptor 3.5mm Male to 2.5mm Female (HDW-15306-002)
I bought the adapter through MobileCityOnline (an Amazon seller) and they were great.

This is the best phone I’ve ever owned. I’m an entry level audiophile and I listen to the music player with Sennheiser headphones and I’ve uploaded my own CDs ripped by WMP 12 at 192kbps WMA. I added an album cover for each album so I can cycle through them by picture when I turn the phone sideways. My ripped anime looks great on the video player. I have to thank Verizon for including a data cable and also for the 3.5mm headphone jack. My LG Env had neither of these and it remained a normal phone to me but with some research on I’ve managed to do everything I wanted with this phone. The only downside I’ve experienced is some videos slow down during playback but to be able to play videos on a music phone is a plus and this phone earned its 5 stars from me.
Since someone asked:
Loading music onto your Chocolate Touch is easier than loading anything else. First make sure you have a MicroSD card and installed it by taking the phone back plate off and clicking the card into place, then put the back plate back on. You go to your Options->USB Auto Detection settings, set it to “Ask on Plug”. Then use the data cable that came with the phone and plug it into your computer, then your phone’s USB slot. Then choose Music, and you can drag full folders into the “Music” folder. You can also do it with Data but I never tried it. For videos, pictures, and much anything else I choose Data and I go to Tools->USB Mass Storage which opens the folder of your MicroSD card(I have a 4 gig card bought separately). Then it’s self-explanatory where everything goes. I found out some of this by experimentation but most by searching on Google. Enjoy your phone as much as I am right now!
